Fantastic Journey

Wonderland ParkThe Fantastic Journey was built and designed entirely in house by Mr. Paul E. Roads, the founder of Wonderland. The ride originally had an interior and exterior dip. The interior dip was taken out and the exterior dip was modified to a much milder form years later.

The tricks and animated items in the building were purchased from the International Amusement Devices of Stanton, Ohio. One trick created by Mr. Roads is the animated turning barrel. It took a year and a half for the ride to be completed.

The Fantastic Journey was a milestone achievement for Wonderland. Its grand opening was advertised and celebrated in grand fashion. Further new additions would be publicized much the same way. The mayor and his city officials and TV and radio people were invited for the ribbon cutting and given the privilege of being the first to ride. Souvenir cups commemorated the grand opening were printed and sold through the concession.

In 2003 the “electric chair man” replaced the skeletons riding bikes. He has been a big success with the public.
